Make the temple start a chain, not a distance claim

Angkor Enterprise currently lists Angkor Temples Park entry from 5:00 a.m. and closing at 6:30 p.m.; exact monument access and operating arrangements still need a live check. A sunrise plan therefore begins before the first gate: driver confirmed, pickup point understood, pass ready, phone charged, and breakfast solved.

The official main ticket counter is about four kilometres from central Siem Reap and currently operates daily from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Angkor Enterprise also supports digital passes. Decide the purchase route before choosing a hotel around a line on the map; an unplanned ticket stop can erase a small location advantage.

For the hotel itself, ask whether a driver can find and wait at the entrance without waking the whole floor, whether the property offers an early breakfast or packed alternative, and whether the room is good enough for the reset you genuinely plan to take.

Use the Angkor pass to decide how much mornings matter

The current official pass menu separates a one-day pass from three-day and seven-day passes; the multi-day options have wider validity windows. That changes the hotel decision. One concentrated temple day can coexist with a central evening base, while several early starts make pickup reliability, sleep, breakfast, and recovery more important each day.

Do not build a three-day plan as three identical dawns. Choose the actual circuit with the driver or guide, leave room for slower temple time, and use APSARA National Authority's visitor information for the current code of conduct. Angkor is a living sacred site: respectful clothing and behaviour belong in the plan, not in a last-minute reminder at the gate.

Choose the Night Market side for options after dark

Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism identifies Pub Street as Street 8 in central Siem Reap, near the river and night markets, with the Old Market at one end. Its Night Market page describes Siem Reap's markets as operating through the week, but individual stalls, venues, and road arrangements can change.

That cluster is useful when the group wants to decide dinner late, browse without arranging a pickup, or split up and walk back independently. Verify the exact route from the hotel door rather than accepting 'near Pub Street': look at crossings, lighting, pavement, the final block, and whether the entrance remains straightforward late in the evening.

Then inspect the room orientation. A central hotel can still be a sensible temple base when the room is quiet and the pickup works; it becomes a poor choice when the short evening walk is offset by street-facing sleep disruption.

Compare three hotel roles, not one vague shortlist

Treat it as a temple-start comparison: verify the live vehicle route, exact pickup, early food, and selected room rather than converting the hotel's bicycle-time claim into a guaranteed transfer time.

Apsara Centrepole Hotel's official site places it at Old Market and describes Pub Street and Old Market as steps away. Treat it as the evening-access comparison: inspect the precise walking route and room-facing direction, then decide whether those easy evenings outweigh the morning vehicle leg.

Angkor Miracle Resort & Spa is the recovery-led comparison. Its first-party room list separates city-view, pool-view, and poolside choices, which is more useful than a generic luxury label. Match the exact category to the group's reset plan; a pool in the property description does not prove that every room has the same access, outlook, or quiet.

Protect the new-airport handoff from an old mental map

Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport uses a city shuttle station on 7 Makara Road. The airport's current transport page says hotel pickup and drop-off are not included in the core shuttle ride, so a second handoff may still be needed after the bus reaches town.

Keep that arrival decision separate from the temple-versus-evening choice. Confirm whether the booked hotel, shuttle, or private transfer provides the full airport-to-door leg, share the current property address, and keep mobile data available for the final pickup. Do not choose an 'airport road' hotel based on the retired airport's geography.

Check the exact room only after the base wins

Once the area choice is clear, compare the exact bed setup, occupancy, cooling, bathroom, window or balcony, room-facing direction, breakfast terms, cancellation deadline, payment timing, and final total for the same dates and guests.
